My Body or Yours? (2023)

This sculpture explores the lasting psychological impact of sexual abuse through the personification of dissociation and dehumanization. It reflects the experience of feeling disconnected from your own body as if it no longer belongs to you. While the act of violence may have existed in the past, its effects persist, shaping the survivor's sense of identity, control, and presence. Sculpting a physical form representative of these internal experiences, the piece emphasizes how trauma does not end with the event itself. It manifests as emotional distance, fragmentation, and a broken relationship between body and self.
